March 2016 was the 5th anniversary of the Fukushima nuclear disaster. In response to the Fukushima accident, the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) developed the Diverse and Flexible Coping Strategies (FLEX) to prepare for beyond-design-events at Nuclear Power Station in the US. To support the FLEX Strategies mandated by the NRC, PCTI has produced a Critical Power Trailer that houses a 400A, 125V 12-Pulse Battery Charger. In case of a power outage, the PCTI battery charger would be powered by a motor generator in order to supply power to charge batteries or power other critical systems.
Fukushima Power Plant
Five years ago the Fukushima earthquake created a 15- meter tsunami that lead to the Fukushima Daiichi Power Plant explosion in the North East of Japan. The power outage caused by the natural disaster resulted in the lack of cool water circulation, which led the fuel rods to overheat in all three Daiichi reactors.

The PCTI battery charger trailer provides an alternative source of DC power to charge batteries in the event of a fire scenario or an extended loss of AC power (ELAP) event. The critical power trailer will be powered by an independent diesel generator.
